How To Make Wedding Chair Covers

Today, we’re going to be looking at how to make wedding chair covers yourself for your wedding. Plus a variety of chair covering ideas. DIY wedding chair covers are becoming increasingly popular. This is because whether you decide to buy or rent ready-made chair covers, it can take a considerable chunk out of your budget. If you have time on your hands, deciding to make them yourself can save a large sum of money in the long run.

There’s a range of fabrics you can use, with tulle chair covers being one of the most popular. Tulle is a lightweight netting that can be made from a range of fibers, such as silk or polyester. But you can really opt for any material you would like.

Choosing the Right Material

Before we look at how to make them, you first need to decide on the material for your chairs. The chair material all depends on the type of wedding you’re having. Let’s look at a few options.

  • Organza. This material is perfect if you’re working with a tight budget. It’s the cheapest option available and usually the material you’ll most often see at weddings. It’s lightweight, sheer, and has a smooth finish.
  • Satin. This is a slightly more luxurious material. It’s glossy, silky, and surprisingly easy to work with. When making the chair covers yourself, this is a great material for beginners, as it is so pliable.
  • Taffeta. If you’re looking for extravagance, taffeta is a stunning option. Lots of couples opt to put brooches onto their taffeta chair covers for a bit of extra flourish.

Of course, there are many other materials you can use for your chairs, those are just the most popular for weddings.

Which Bow Should You opt For?

There’s a wide range of bows you may like to use for your chair covers. Let’s look at the most common you may find at weddings.

  • The Traditional Bow – if you want your wedding to be traditional and you’re not one for steering away from the “norms” of a wedding, this bow is perfect. It’s quick and one of the easiest.
  • The Side Bow – this is by far the easiest option of all. If you don’t have much time, but still want a classy, elegant look from your chairs, this is the bow for you.
  • Double Loop Flower – if time is on your side and you have lots of hands to help out, I would recommend the double loop flower. The end result is stunning.

We’ll take a look at how to tie these knots later!

How to: Fit a Banquet Chair

So you’ve chosen your material, you’ve got it to size and now it’s time to start work. Fitting a banquet chair is easier than you think. Before you bling up your chair, you may want to put a banquet cover over the top. Many wedding venues provide these for you, so it shouldn’t be an additional cost.

However, if your chairs are looking bare and need to fit the banquet covers yourself, this video shows you a step-by-step guide how. It only takes 30 seconds, but if you have a few hundred chairs to do…it could take a while!

How to: Tie a Bow

As we’ve seen, there are a variety of bows you may like to use at your wedding. The most popular is the traditional bow, so that’s what we’ll be looking at today. However, there are plenty of video tutorials for every wedding bow you could possibly imagine! So if the traditional bow isn’t for you – YouTube is your oyster.

Even though the traditional bow is one of the easiest options you can choose, if there’s a lot of guests – it’s going to take time to tie tens, if not hundreds, of bows. Totally Dazzled has an amazing tutorial (and video) of How to Tie a Chair Sash. She shows you how to do a short-tailed traditional bow and a long-tailed traditional bow.

Dressing Up Your Chairs

So your banquet cover is on. Your bows are tied perfectly. But something still feels missing. If this is the case for you, there are plenty of ways you can dress up your chair to make it look even more beautiful. Here’s a few ideas:

  • Mr. and Mrs. signs on the back of your chairs will look super cute. If you’re having a chic wedding, wooden signs with italic font is perfect
  • Brooches to add to the center of your chairs are extremely popular at weddings that aren’t budget-conscious. Whether you go for a simple brooch, or something wild – it definitely adds something extra to your chairs
  • If you’re wedding is at a barn, and you’re going for a more casual vibe, hanging miniature bunting on the back of your chairs is a super cute idea – and fun too
  • Adding extra details like pearls or rhinestones to your chairs can take them to the next level. It can be something as simple as tying pearls around the chair or sticking rhinestones to your bows
  • If you have hessian string and peg clips, why not clip some photos of you and your partner throughout your relationship to each chair? It would be adorable and something memorable for your guests

Adding Rhinestones To A Wedding Dress

Today, we’re going to be looking at adding rhinestones to a wedding dress. As weddings are becoming increasingly more expensive, more brides are taking it upon themselves to do tasks themselves. Whether that be creating your own centerpieces, or making your own chair covers – brides and grooms can do it all nowadays! But a trend becoming more popular is doing your own wedding dress embellishment.

Adding bling to your dress may sound easy, but there’s lots of things to consider before you start adding rhinestones! Let’s take a look at how to customize your wedding dress, in the easiest ways possible.

Why Add Rhinestones to a Dress?

There’s a plethora of reasons as to why you may want to add rhinestones to your dress. Here’s just a few!

  • If you’re on a budget, it’s a great way to cut back on costs. Plainer gowns are far less expensive than dresses that are already full of bling! Doing embellishments yourself can make the base price of your dress considerably less
  • Your dress will be completely unique. When adding to your dress, it makes the finished product one of a kind. This is appealing to many brides, as no one in the world will have the exact same wedding dress as you.
  • Once the rhinestones are in place, the gown will look far more expensive than what you originally pay for it.
  • It adds a real personal touch to your gown, especially if done by your own hand. Or if a bridal party member is doing it for you, it makes it extra special.
  • If done correctly, rhinestones can add real elegance and class to your gown. And accentuate all of your best features.

How to Add Rhinestones to a Dress

There’s a variety of ways you can add rhinestones, whether you’re good with your hands or not. From gluing, to sewing, to tying – let’s take a look at some of the ways to bling up your wedding dress.

Sewing

Sewing is the most traditional way to add rhinestones to your dress. It’s important to note that if you’re a complete novice with sewing, this may not be the best time to try your hand at it. Your first time sewing should not be with one of the most important clothing garments of your life. I would strongly advise practicing before you start on your gown – no matter how confident you feel!

Sports Rec has a great step-by-step guide on How to Add Rhinestones to a Wedding Dress by sewing them on.

Gluing

If you’re not confident with a sewing needle (I am definitely not), you may want to opt for gluing instead. It’s far less time-consuming than sewing but requires a steady hand, and a good eye. All you’ll need is rhinestones, glue, and tweezers – and you’re good to go!

This video from Classic Royalty Designs on YouTube is amazing at teaching you how to glue rhinestones yourself. It’s quick, easy – and she has some great tips in there.

Belts

If changing any part of your wedding dress permanently seems terrifying to you, but you do want to add a bit of sparkle to your dress – there’s something else you can do! Rhinestone wedding belts and sashes are becoming increasingly popular and require minimal effort.

If you’re wary of making irreversible changes to your dress, this is a great option. Online stores like Etsy do gorgeous affordable options, but if you’re looking for something more luxury – try your local bridal boutique. They really can be a stunning addition to your dress.

Tips and Tricks

There are a few things you may want to bear in mind before you take the plunge of adding bling to your wedding dress. I think any additional sparkle is a bonus – especially on your wedding day. So let’s look at some tips and tricks to make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Do Your Research

I can not stress this enough. Although I feel like if you’re reading this article, the research has already begun – you’re doing the right thing! Watch tutorials. Read blog posts. Learn as much as you can about the material you’re adding the rhinestones to. It can also be easy to overcrowd your dress, or add to few rhinestones – place them on your dress before you put them on permanently, just to give you an idea of the finished result.

Be Careful Where You Place Them

Let’s be honest – rhinestones are uncomfortable. And you definitely want to feel as comfortable as possible on your wedding day. When choosing where to add the rhinestones, be sure not to add any under where your arms sit, or anywhere where the rhinestones will directly touch your skin. Rhinestones rub, and they will leave a mark if they’re rubbing all day – especially if it’s hot!

Working With the Dress

Placement of the dress is important once you start the work. Ensure the dress is lying down on a flat surface, rather than upright. Rhinestones are fiddly and gravity will want to pull them downwards. Having the dress flat out will help stop this.

Practice

The most important piece of advice I can offer is – practice! You want your gown to be perfect, and practice definitely makes perfect. Buy a few cheap pieces of clothing, or use old clothes and see how adding rhinestones goes to those first. If that’s successful, then start on your dress!

Conclusion

I hope this article has taught you all about adding rhinestones to a dress. Whether you’re comfortable with a needle or would prefer to use glue – adding embellishment to your dress doesn’t need to be as difficult as it may seem. It just requires a lot of time…and a lot of patience!

Wedding Shower Host Gift Ideas

Today, we’re going to be looking at wedding shower host gift ideas and the etiquette that you may expect to follow if hosting, or attending a bridal shower.

Whether the person hosting your wedding shower is yourself, or another member of the wedding party, you have no doubt put in a lot of time and effort into being a part of the upcoming big day. You care about the bride deeply and want to make her day as special as possible.

As the bride, you’re probably looking for the perfect way to thank your wedding shower hostess for all of her love and dedication. Well, look no further!

Bridal Showers Host Gift Ideas

The gift for your host will be subject to their likes, of course. But here’s a few generic ideas that you may like to consider as a token of your gratitude. Whether you’re on a budget or looking for something more extravagant – we’ve got you covered!

A Letter

This is really to go alongside a small gift of choice, but I think a handwritten letter of thanks is the perfect sentimental touch to your host. She has likely been working hard on planning your shower and this will be something she can treasure forever.

Personalized Alcohol

“A Toast to the Host” or “The Hostess with the Mostest” are great phrases to personalize the bottle with, alongside their name. Depending on your budget, you can get labels for around $5 which you stick on yourself, or have the personalization done for you.

Pamper Hamper

Give your host the chance to unwind after all of her hard work. A face mask, a bath bomb, bubble bath, soap, a candle – whether you’re on a budget or have more money set aside, this is the perfect gift. It can be made as expensive, or as extravagant as you wish. But is also super easy to do on a budget!

Personalized Notebook

Your hostess is probably someone that likes to keep on top of things. And also enjoys being organized. A planner or a notebook with her name on would likely go down a treat!

Sweet Treats

If your host has a sweet tooth, why not gift her a giant thank you cookie or a basket of her favorite candies. I’m sure she will appreciate the energy boost too!

Jewellery

From wish bracelets which start at a few dollars, a pair of earrings to wear on your big day, or something more luxurious. She does deserve to be spoilt, so why not treat your hostess to a piece of jewellery she can treasure forever.

These are just a few suggestions – you can buy her absolutely anything. Just try to bear your host’s interests in mind and get her something memorable. For more gift ideas, Amazon have a great selection.

Hostess Wedding Shower Gift Etiquette

Please don’t show up empty-handed to your shower. Your hostess deserves a small token of thanks for everything she is doing for you. While there is no etiquette as to what that gift is, or what the budget should be, it would be considered rude to arrive with no gift.

Wedding Etiquette Bridal Shower

There is no right or wrong way to throw a bridal shower, please keep that in mind. But let’s cover the basic questions of when, who, and what happens.

When Should it Take Place?

It can be anytime from a few weeks before the wedding, or as far as six months before the wedding. I would aim for 4-8 weeks before the big day. It will be a great way to build the excitement, with the wedding just around the corner. Be sure to check with the bride which day (and time) works for her – it wouldn’t be a bridal shower without the most important guest!

Who Should Pay?

Usually, the bridal party. Maid of honor, bridesmaids, close female relatives – it can be anyone that is happy to donate to making the bridal shower as special as possible.

Who Should I Invite?

Only invite guests that are invited to the wedding itself, otherwise it can become quite awkward! Depending on the size of your shower, will all depend on how many guests you can invite, it’s usually a small, intimate gathering. If the shower isn’t a surprise, the bride can even help you choose which guests she would like to attend.

What Happens at the Shower?

The most important thing that should be happening is – a good time! Guests can have a drink and eat food in a relaxed setting with the future bride. Plan some games and activities and make sure everyone is getting involved. There are a plethora of fun ideas on sites like Etsy and eBay, which are super affordable too.

And the main reason for the shower – watching the bride open the gifts bought for her. If the bride is particularly anxious about opening gifts in front of everybody (definitely me!), perhaps tell guests to give their gifts individually when chatting to the bride throughout the shower. That way it won’t be quite as overwhelming.

If you want to incorporate the groom into your shower, have him arrive towards the end of the shower and have a celebratory drink with the bride and other guests. This is always a sweet touch to add.

Conclusion

I hope this post has helped you come up with some great wedding shower host gift ideas and that your host feels as special as s(he) deserves! The host is no doubt one of your nearest and dearest, and likely already knows how grateful you are for their help, but a small gift can go a long way!

What did you give your bridal shower host as a token of thanks? I would love to know your responses, so please feel free to leave them in the comments below. You may even end up helping out another bride with her host!

Chair Bows For Wedding Receptions

Today, we’re going to be looking at the different chair bows and chair sashes for wedding receptions that you can find. Whether you’re wanting to try making them yourself, or you’re unsure of what chair bow or sash to opt for – this is the article for you.

There’s a whole host of options available. Whether you’re looking for a subtle way to dress up your chairs, or bling them up to your heart’s content, it can be tricky to decide what to choose. Which color should you choose? Which style bow or sash? Is there a fabric that will work best? Should you tie the bows yourself? It can feel overwhelming, but it certainly doesn’t have to be.

Tips to Help Decide the Right Bow for You

I’ve put together a list of tips to help choose your perfect chair covers and bows.

  • Color – I’ll assume you’ve chosen the color scheme for your wedding – that’s if you’re even having one! It’s the first thing I decided on when getting married. While most people opt for their chair bows to match their color scheme, you don’t have to do this. Once you’re set on a color, try ordering some different fabrics and color variants to see what you like best.
  • Cost – Weddings are expensive, there’s no doubt about that. Set a budget – and make sure it’s realistic. For example, if you have $1000 for reception décor, don’t spend $500 on chair covers.
  • Try it Yourself – This is a DIY blog, so of course, I’m going to suggest doing them yourself (we’ll take a closer look at this later). While it may be time-consuming, it keeps the cost down massively.
  • Measure the Chairs – This may seem like a strange one – but of course, not all chairs are going to be the same size. Check with your venue what size the chairs will be so you can get the perfect fit.
  • Decide on Your Material – There are a whole range of materials you could opt for. Organza, satin, taffeta. We’ll look more in-depth at those later.
  • Hire Them – Did you know that you can hire sashes and bows for your wedding? If you have a large number of guests or simply don’t have the time or money to make and source your own, hiring is a great alternative.

Choosing the Right Material

There are a few materials to choose from and what you choose, will depend on the feel you want your wedding to have. Let’s take a look at the choices.

  • Organza – This is the material you’ll most often see at weddings. It’s eye-catching and the cheapest option. They look elegant and come in a range of various colors. Organza is sheer and has a smooth finish. It’s also very lightweight.
  • Satin – If you’ve got more money set aside for your sashes, you may want to opt for satin. The proof satin is that it’s much easier to tie bows with. If you’re doing them yourself, it’s better to work with than materials like organza. Their glossiness and silkiness adds a bit of luxury to your wedding.
  • Taffeta – The most expensive of them all; high-end and stunning. They’re certainly the most formal choice of them all, and look beautiful with a centerpiece in the middle of the bow, like a brooch.

There are plenty of other materials to choose such as burlap, tulle, lycra, and spandex – but the three above are the most popular and easily accessible.

Finding the Right Chair Sash for Weddings

Surprisingly, there’s a number of ways you can show off your sashes on the big day. While most people opt for the traditional knot, that is just one of the many options available.

  • The “Traditional” Bow – If your wedding has a very traditional feel about it, or you don’t like veering away from the “norm” at weddings, this bow is perfect. The pros of this one are that it’s quick and easy.
  • The “Side” Bow – Another easy alternative (probably the easiest of them all). It looks just as elegant as the traditional bow
  • Double Loop Flower – This one requires time and lots of hands. The end product is stunning and worth the effort, in my opinion.

Here’s a great article where they offer 10 different ways to tie a chair – whether you’re doing it yourself or buying/renting ready-made.

Tying Your Own Bows

Tying your own does take time, but the end result is worth all that effort. As we’ve seen, there’s a range of ways you can tie them – from easy, to more complex. Totally Dazzled has a tutorial (with a video) on how to tie a chair sash bow, which is relatively straightforward. I always prefer learning how to do things by watching, so if you’re like me, this is perfect for you.

Budget Options

I didn’t have much money for my wedding. If you’re the same, you could try these super cute alternatives for chair bows at wedding receptions, to add to your chairs.

  • Use regular ribbon from your local craft store and make miniature bows
  • You’ll need a bunch of photos, peg clips, and hessian string. Tie the string round your chairs and clip on a cute photo or two to each chair of you and your partner
  • Hang a garland round every chair. You can usually buy these in bulk for a reasonable price

Conclusion

I hope this article has helped you see the range of options you have when choosing your perfect chair bows and sashes for your wedding. Whatever budget you have, you can make your chairs look gorgeous and blend in with your wedding seamlessly. And just remember, as long as you and your partner are together, your wedding will likely be the day you always dreamed of.

If you have any other tips when choosing or making your own, please feel free to leave them in the comments below. I would love to see them. Sharing is caring!

How To Make Birdcage Veils

If you want an elegant and unique look for your wedding, a birdcage veil is a wonderful option. Knowing how to make birdcage veils will allow you to get the exact look you are wanting. They provide a lovely look that is perfect for any type of wedding.

The great thing about making your own birdcage veil is that you can do it for a budget-friendly price. Even if you don’t have any prior sewing experience, you can still master making one. It is a great DIY project if you are wanting to make your big day even more personal.

What is a Birdcage Veil?

A birdcage veil is a short type of veil that covers part or all of the face. It got its name as once it is on your head, the fabric forms a hanging birdcage shape. They are often made from Russian net, translucent tulle, or French netting and can contain embellishments as well.

Birdcage veils first became popular during the 1940s due to the lack of materials from WWII. They became a popular trend in the 1940s and 1950s. Now, they are a popular style when people want a retro look for their wedding.

What You Will Need to Follow This DIY Birdcage Veil Tutorial

Equipment

For making your own birdcage veil, you will need:

  • 16–18” of French netting
  • 10–12” of 1/4” ribbon
  • Wire hair comb
  • White thread and needle
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Embellishments such as feathers, rhinestones, pearls, or flowers (optional)
  • Hot glue gun (optional)

Step by Step Instructions

Step One: Measure Out the Netting

Measure out your 9″ French netting until it is 16-18 inches long, depending on your personal preference. Cut the netting and trim the edges if desired.

Step Two: Shape the Netting

Carefully fold the veil in half and trim one of the corners diagonally at about a 45-degree angle. Make sure to measure the edge you just cut while it is still folded along your face to make sure it hits the right spot. If need, trim more off to reach your desired size.

Step Three: Sew the Netting

Open up the netting then take your needle and thread and stitch along the uncut side of your veil. When you get the end, pull the thread so it scrunches up. Make sure you adjust the length so it matches the length of the comb then tie a knot in the thread.

Step Four: Wrap the Comb

Wrap the comb with your ribbon, starting by wrapping it on one end of the comb through the teeth and then tie a knot. Continue wrapping the ribbon through the teeth and when you get to the other end, tie a knot. Trim off any excess ribbon is needed.

Step Five: Sew Your Veil to the Comb

Once you are finished wrapping your comb, sew it together with your veil. If desired, you can also attach it using hot glue. If using hot glue, use a binder clip to hold the veil and comb together as it dries.

Step Six: Attach Embellishments

Once your birdcage veil is assembled, you can attach any embellishments you desire. Using your hot glue gun, you can attach rhinestones, feathers, pearls, or flowers to the comb. Allow them to thoroughly dry before wearing the veil.

Tips and Tricks

Instead of using a metal hair comb, you can use a headband instead. Using a headband is a great option if you have shorter hair. You can use headbands that already have embellishments on them to create a showstopping piece.

You can use any color of ribbon for attaching to the comb. Silver, gold, and white are popular and elegant colors to use. In addition, you can even use one of your wedding colors to create a personal look.

Since birdcage veils only cover a small area, you can wear them with any hair length or style. This gives you the freedom to wear your hair however you like. You can even style the veil so you can wear it in different ways.

Birdcage veils should be worn at the crown of your head. This allows the net to fall forward across your face. Ideally, it should lay just above the tip of the nose or along the line of your cheekbone.

It is best to use a metal hair comb that does not have embellishments on it. This will make it much easier to wrap the ribbon around the comb. After attaching the veil and comb, then you can attach any embellishments to your comb.

If you are having problems with your comb staying in your hair, you can use bobby pins to help keep it in place. Hairspray will also help to keep the veil in place. If you are worried about the comb not staying in place, you can always just use a headband, as it will stay in place better.

How to Make a Birdcage Veil

Making your own birdcage veil is a wonderful way to make your wedding more personal. Not only is it simple to do, but it is also budget-friendly. Some veils can cost hundreds of dollars, but you can make your own special one for under $30.

Birdcage veils are a wonderful option if you are looking for a retro look. They can be worn with all hairstyles and lengths. You can easily add any sort of accessories you want, such as pearls, rhinestones, feathers, or flowers.

No matter your wedding theme or style of your dress, you can find a way to wear a birdcage veil. They are a versatile and simplistic style that it is great for any time of the year.

Making Your Own Chuppah

Making your own chuppah for your wedding can be a wonderful way to make your big day more special. You are able to make it personal to you and your significant other. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing you and your spouse built it yourselves.

Building your own chuppah will allow you to add any special touches that you like. You can add your favorite types of flowers to give it a more romantic vibe. In addition, you can even make it based on your wedding colors for a more special look.

What is a Chuppah?

A chuppah is traditionally a canopy that a Jewish couple will stand underneath as they get married. Oftentimes it consists of a sheet that is supported across four poles. It is open on all four sides and is used for both indoor and outdoor weddings.

Though many synagogues have a chuppah, some people may opt to use their own for a more personal feel. In addition, if someone is having their wedding outside, it may be easier to build one rather than rent one.

The chuppa can be assembled a couple of days ahead of your wedding, but you want to wait to add the flowers till the day of. Make sure that your wedding venue is alright with you building your own chuppa before you get started on the project.

Place the Patio Umbrella Stands

First, place down your patio umbrella stands. Using patio umbrella stands allows for an easy assembly that will be sturdy.

Measure out the size of your cloth and space them a couple of inches shorter than the length of it. This will allow the cloth to have a slight droop instead of being too tight.

Instead of umbrella stands, you can use flag pole stands instead. Just make sure that whatever you choose can be adjustable.

Add the Screw Hooks to the Birch Poles

Carefully add the screw hooks to the top of the birch poles. This will allow you to easily attach your cloth.

Add the Birch Poles to Your Umbrella Stand

Once you have your umbrella stands placed in their spots, add the birch poles. Carefully lower the pole into the umbrella stand and tighten them until they are secure. You can use a level to make sure your DIY chuppah frame is straight.

Add the Cloth Top

Once the birch poles are level and securely in place, add the cloth to the top. Use the hooks to attach the cloth, making sure that it is not too tight. If needed, you can tie string to the cloth and then to the hooks to attach it securely.

Be sure that the cloth is securely fastened. If it is an outdoor wedding, you don’t want it to blow away if it gets windy out.

Attach Flowers if Desired

If desired, you may decorate your chuppah with flowers. Flower wire is a great way to attach flowers to your chuppah. Stock flowers, Lisianthus, hydrangeas, and orchids all will look beautiful on it and give it a lovely appearance.

In addition to flowers, you can also add foliage. Willow and Eucalyptus add an elegant touch that will make for a beautiful statement piece.

Feel free to add the foliage and flowers anywhere you want on the chuppas. You can add it anywhere on the birch poles or on the umbrella stands.

When adding flowers, wait to add them till the day of the wedding. This will help ensure they won’t wilt and dry up ahead of time, leading to a lackluster chuppa.

Instead of floral wire, or in addition, you can use ribbon to attach the flowers. You can use ribbons of your wedding colors to make for a more personal look.

How To Serve Alcohol At A Wedding Without A Bartender

Many people choose to serve alcohol at their wedding. If you choose to, you will want to know how to serve alcohol at a wedding without a bartender. This will help you decide if you want to use a bartender or do it all on your own.

It can be stressful trying to plan all the details of your wedding. Fortunately, you can save some stress by preparing ahead of time and planning how you will serve alcohol. With the right steps, you can serve alcohol at your wedding without a bartender without any stress.

Self-Serve Bar at Wedding

Having a self-serve bar at your wedding can be a practical option. It can save you money from having to hire a bartender, which can get expensive.

Though a DIY wedding bar might not be for everyone, it is a great choice if you are on a budget or are having a small wedding. In addition, it allows you to pick out the exact drinks that you want. It will help reduce waste and any leftover drinks you can keep.

Stick With Beer, Wine, Champagne, and Canned Cocktails

To keep things simple, it is best to stick with beer, wine, champagne, and canned cocktails. These drinks are all self-serve, so you don’t have to worry about people making their own drinks or having to find someone to make drinks all night.

Canned cocktails are a great alternative to mixed drinks. They require no mixing as they are already made. Though you can opt for someone to make mixed drinks, it will be much easier to just stick with canned cocktails.

Make sure that you have plenty of glasses available for people to pour the wine and champagne. It is often a good idea to stick with plastic cups since that will make for a much simpler clean-up. You can even provide markers so people can write their names on their glasses.

If you are planning to serve wine with corks, make sure to provide wine openers. You may want to opt for screw-off tops if you are worried about people having to take off corks. In addition, make sure you have bottle openers if your beer bottles are not twist-offs.

Ideally, you will want to have a small variety of options. Try to have at least one selection of red wine and one selection of white wine. For beers, having two to four different types offers good variety. You can serve different selections such as IPAs and lagers.

For canned cocktails, you can stick with the classics such as margaritas, vodka sodas, sparkling seltzers, and Moscow Mules. There are plenty of different canned cocktails you can serve based on your taste.

Place a Couple Bottles of Wine at Each Table

For serving wine, you can place a couple of bottles at each table along with glasses. This makes it easy for the guest so they have the wine available right at the table. If needed, be sure to provide a wine opener as well.

You can place the wine in holders or in small buckets on the table. This will make it look neat and give it a lovely appearance.

Place Alcohol in a Large Trough With Ice

For your beer and canned cocktails, you can place them in a large trough filled with ice. This allows for convenience and will keep the drinks cold all night.

Buying Alcohol in Bulk

If you are planning to serve alcohol at your wedding without a bartender, buying in bulk is a great option. It can save you money, as some places offer discounts for bulk sales. In addition, it allows you to get the exact type of alcohol that you want.

You can buy in bulk at nationwide chains such as Total Wine, Sam’s Club, and Costco. In addition, you can check with your local liquor store to see if they have any specials for buying in bulk.

Before buying, be certain to figure out how much alcohol you need. For casual drinking, plan for two drinks per person for the entire night. For more of a party atmosphere, plan for two drinks an hour at your reception per guest.

Check Your State and Venue’s Liquor Laws

Before you plan your wedding bar setup, be sure to check your state’s laws on serving alcohol. The laws vary by state, so it is important you meet your state’s laws so you don’t end up in any legal trouble. Depending on where you live, you may even have to get a liquor permit for the day.

In addition, be certain to check with your venue on their rules regarding alcohol. Some venues will only allow alcohol to be served by someone with a liquor license. Some places may require a professional bartender to be used due to liability issues and some venues have their own bartenders that must be used if serving alcohol.

Before you get planning on your DIY bar at your wedding, be sure to verify the state laws and venue rules. You don’t want to purchase a bulk amount of alcohol only to find out your venue will not permit outside alcohol.
