Personalized Wedding Cake Cutters: Our Top Picks

Today, we’re going to be looking at personalized wedding cake cutters, and all of our top choices if you’re looking for the perfect pick for your special day. Whether it’s just an engraved cake knife or a whole personalized cake cutting set, it really can add something to your wedding. And will look absolutely gorgeous in your wedding photos. Whether you choose to have Mr. and Mrs. or your names and wedding date – the possibilities are endless. So let’s take a closer look!

What Is Personalized Wedding Cake Cutting Sets?

It really is what it says in the name! The sets usually come with a knife and a server (to serve your yummy slabs of cake with) and personalized ones usually come engraved with the names of the happy couple, or the wedding date, or something else significant to the pair.

Some venues will already supply wedding cake cutting sets – but they will not be personalized (I definitely learnt that the hard way!). And I think the personalization makes them extra special, and something you’ll be able to treasure always after the wedding is over.

Top Picks

Whether you’re shopping on marketplace stores like Etsy or independent stores – there’s a ton of choices to pick from! Here’s a list of some of our favorites.

TCDiy

Our first wedding cake cutting set is from TCDiy. This is a set of a knife and a server – and is perfect if you’re on a budget. There’s a range of options to choose from, including:

  • No Engraving – £18.93
  • With Engraving – £29.54
  • Engrave Handwriting – £22.57
  • Engrave Photo – £35.60

What I love about this one is that you can choose to have your own handwritten message or photo engraved. This adds a special layer to your cake cutting set. Or you can choose one of the 10 standard fonts that they offer, for a lower price. They’re handmade, with stainless steel blades. And the best part is…shipping is free!

The Laser Boutique

If you’re looking for something basic, at a fantastic price, and can be paid off in installments – look no further! This personalized stainless steel cake knife and server set is on sale at the moment, for just £17.99 for the pair! You can’t choose the font style, but it is a gorgeous set at a very reasonable price. You can even add a gift box for an extra £6.99. But if you’re looking for something fully personalized that does the job, I would highly recommend The Laser Boutique.

Things Remembered

Things Remembered have a huge selection of personalized gifts that will be sure to bring magic to your wedding. They have a range of options, varying from suitable for a tight budget or if you have a little extra cash to spend on luxuries such as wedding cake cutting sets.

My top pick from Things Remembered is these stunning Fifth Avenue Cake Servers. If you’re looking for a way to add the perfect touch of glitz and glam to your wedding, look no further. At $92, the price is not for the faint-hearted, but they are adorned with glimmering crystals, which will have everyone’s heads turning on your special day. Personalization comes included in the price, and the turnaround time is super fast.

They’re made with pewter alloy and stainless steel, and measure in at 13.8″ for the knife and 11.8″ for the server. There are plenty more budget-friendly options on their website, but if you’re wanting a bit of extra flair on your wedding, the Fifth Avenue Cake Servers set is perfect!

The Wedding Outlet

Another great place to start your search is The Wedding Outlet. You can find a huge selection of wedding items on their website – including wedding cake cutting sets; many of which come personalized. What I love about The Wedding Outlet is that they cater to a lot of weddings, and a lot of styles. For example, they have a seaside wedding server kit and a vintage server kit – meaning they’ll be suitable for most weddings.

Their sets also come in a range of colors and shapes – they even have heart-shaped wedding servers, which I think is amazing! On my own wedding day, I just used what the venue provided…which I’m greatly regretting now!

The prices vary, depending on the style you’re looking for. But prices start from $20 to around $70 – with personalization, of course.

Amazon

While Amazon may not be your first choice that comes to mind when you think of wedding products, they’re actually better than you may think! Their selection isn’t exactly huge and the only personalization you’ll find is Mr. and Mrs., but you can find beautiful options for around $10-$15. They also come in gorgeous gift boxes.

It may even be worth buying them blank from Amazon at a cheaper price, and taking them to your local engraver to see how much individual engraving would be – you may end up saving yourself some money! Most engravers charge a seriously low price.

Conclusion

I hope this article has helped you to become more familiar with personalized wedding cake cutters, and where to start your search for your dream set. It may not seem too important, but it’s the perfect keepsake from your wedding and something you can even hand down to your children in memory of your special day. You don’t have to spend huge amounts of money to find something perfect for your wedding.

Whether you’re looking to bring out the bling, or something more subtle, I highly recommend checking out the stores above, as you’ll definitely find something for your own wedding.

Did you have a personalized wedding cake cutter set for your wedding cake? I would love to know! If you have any recommendations of stores to buy from, or any stories to share – please feel free to let me know in the comments below. You may be helping out future couples with their own wedding cake sets. Sharing is caring!

Funny Wedding Walk Out Songs: Top Picks

Today, we’re going to be looking at funny wedding walk-out songs. Once the ceremony is over, you’ll want a song that’ll make your exit as memorable as possible. While most couples opt for something romantic or sweet, there are lots of couples that want something light-hearted and funny. You may be unsure what to choose, so we’ll be taking a look at funny wedding songs to walk out of your wedding too.

What Is A Wedding Walk-Out Song?

A walk-out song for a wedding, otherwise known as a wedding recession is when the happy couple makes their way back down the aisle, as their first act of marriage. The guests will go wild and follow behind, and usually take photos and throw confetti. A song is usually playing as you make your exit, and you want to choose something memorable that’ll leave your guests smiling.

How To Choose Your Recessional Song

It’s important that your recessional song reflects who you are as a couple. If you’re naturally both a serious couple, it may not be best to opt for something funny. Something light-hearted or romantic is always a good choice, or something from a Disney film is also a good option.

If you’re a couple that doesn’t take life too seriously, why not opt for a funny walk-out song? After an emotional ceremony, it may be nice for your guests to cry with laughter. Here are some of our top choices.

Funny Wedding Walk-Out Songs

We’ll be going through a list of inappropriate choices, fun choices, and choices that will leave your guests crying with laughter. A funny wedding walk-out song is a great option to choose after what was probably an emotional ceremony. The relief you’ll feel once the ceremony is over (as a couple) is so huge and a funny song choice will be the icing on the cake of a great ceremony.

Inappropriate Wedding Walk-Out Songs

  1. I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For – U2
  2. Don’t You Want Me – The Human League
  3. Bad Romance – Lady Gaga
  4. Marry You – Bruno Mars
  5. Gold Digger – Kanye West
  6. Another One Bites the Dust – Queen
  7. That Don’t Impress Me Much – Shania Twain
  8. Never Ever – All Saints
  9. Tainted Love – Soft Cell
  10. Love is a Battlefield – Pat Benatar
  11. Let’s Get it On – Marvin Gaye
  12. Who Let the Dogs Out – Baha Men

One of my favorite choices from this section is Marry You by Bruno Mars. With lyrics such as,

“It’s a beautiful night, we’re looking for something dumb to do
Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you
Is it the look in your eyes or is it this dancing juice?
Who cares, baby, I think I wanna marry you”

It sounds sweet and light-hearted, but the lyrics are funny and very tongue in cheek.

Fun Wedding Walk-Out Songs

If you’re looking for something upbeat, and more fun, than funny – this is the section for you! Check out our top fun recessional song choices.

  1. We Are Family – Sister Sledge
  2. Bye, Bye, Bye – N*SYNC
  3. Escape (Pina Colada Song) – Rupert Holmes
  4. Get Lucky – Daft Punk
  5. Love on Top – Beyoncé
  6. Signed, Sealed, Delivered – Stevie Wonder
  7. You Make My Dreams Come True – Hall & Oates (this was actually my wedding recession choice!)
  8. Walking on Sunshine – Katrina and the Waves
  9. Living on a Prayer – Jon Bon Jovi
  10. Love You I Do – Jennifer Hudson
  11. The Edge of Glory – Lady Gaga
  12. Best Day of my Life – American Authors

My favorite choice from this section (besides my own!) is Best Day of my Life by American Authors. It’s super fun to dance to but has profound lyrics that will mean something on your special day, such as:

“I’m never gonna look back, never gonna give it up
No, please don’t wake me now,
This is gonna be the best day of my life”

Funny Family-Friendly Wedding Walk-Out Songs

If there are a few children at your wedding, or you just want something a little more PG for your special day, that is completely understandable. There are so many choices you can pick from, including Disney favorites and songs from shows like Grease. Let’s take a look at some top picks.

  1. Jurassic Park Theme – John Williams
  2. We Go Together – Grease (Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta)
  3. Hakuna Matata – The Lion King
  4. You’ve Got a Friend in Me – Toy Story
  5. A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes – Cinderella
  6. The Bear Necessities – The Jungle Book
  7. Rewrite the Stars – The Greatest Showman
  8. The Greatest Show – The Greatest Showman
  9. Happy – Pharrell Williams
  10. Firework – Katy Perry
  11. Treasure – Bruno Mars
  12. I Believe in a Thing Called Love – The Darkness

My favorite choice from this section is without a doubt, The Greatest Show. The opening, “Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for”, couldn’t be more perfect to start your exit. Later in the song, the lyrics such as,

“Don’t fight it, it’s coming for you, running at ya
It’s only this moment, don’t care what comes after”

are suited to any wedding and will certainly have all your guests on their feet singing and dancing. Even the younger guests! I know my niece and nephew love The Greatest Showman.

Conclusion

I hope this article has given you some great ideas for funny wedding walk-out songs. Whichever song you choose, it will most definitely be memorable and special for you both as a couple and will be a memory you’ll treasure forever. The exit after my wedding was one of my favorite parts of the day. The relief was huge and everyone’s faces were filled with joy. It’s something I’ll always remember.

Corset Back Wedding Dress Alteration: How To

Today, we’re going to be looking at corset back wedding dress alteration and how to do it. Whether you’re looking at doing this yourself or you’re wanting more information on pricing and if it’s possible – this is the article for you. Adding a corset to a wedding dress sounds difficult, but it’s easier than you may think.

You may want a corset back wedding dress for a range of reasons, but one thing is for sure – wedding dress alterations are hugely popular. And it’s very rare that a dress fits like a glove with no extra work needed at all. Even when buying a dress off the rack, you’ll usually need some work done to it, to make it perfect. So let’s take a look at how to add a corset back to your wedding dress.

Reasons To Change Your Dress To A Corset Back

There are a few reasons you may want to change your dress to a corset back. One of the main reasons is that you have always dreamed of a corset back, but your dream dress has a zipper or other form of closure. If this is the case, and your dress already fits perfectly, the dress will also need to be taken up at the sides to create a space for the corset.

Another reason is that the dress is too small, and adding a corset can help this. However, for a dress to fit (even after adding the corset back), it must already fit you in the hip area. The corset will only help to make alterations with any waist issues that need resolving.

Can A Zipper Be Changed To A Corset Back?

Of course! A zipper changing to a corset is one of the most common wedding dress alterations. And this is possible to change on almost any wedding dress with a zipper. The most difficult issue you’ll face is finding a fabric to match your dress. However, if you get in touch with your bridal store or seamstress, they will likely have connections and be able to help you with this.

Bridal stores are able to order a corset kit from the dress manufacturer, which will make altering your dress as easy as possible.

How Much Will It Cost To Alter My Dress?

Prices will vary depending on the dress, and the work that needs doing. However, the estimate for a standard corset back alteration is between $100-$150. So be sure to leave a portion of your budget aside if adding a corset is on your to-do list! It may not seem too pricey, but it’s not an amount of money you’ll want to suddenly find closer to your wedding day – there’s always unexpected monetary purchases that crop up closer to the big day!

How To Add A Corset To Your Wedding Dress

I can not stress this enough – if you aren’t already good at sewing, or willing to put the work in, please don’t attempt to add a corset to your wedding dress yourself. However, if this is something you feel comfortable doing, it will save you some money for the big day, and it’s definitely possible.

The Sewing Garden has a fantastic tutorial on How to Add a Corset Back to Your Wedding Dress, that runs you through each step individually, in great detail. They even claim that it looks much harder than it actually is! It’s important to note that this tutorial is for a dress that already fits well.

She has a few tutorials on her website. One of which uses the traditional loops and a second that uses satin ribbon for the loops and ties. You can find that particular tutorial here.

Common Wedding Dress Alterations

Once you’ve chosen your dream wedding dress, you’ll want to source a seamstress fairly quickly. They usually fill up with bookings fairly quickly, and you’ll need to schedule in several visits before the big day. The consultation is usually free of charge, so shop around. It took me a while to find someone I was comfortable handing my wedding dress over to.

There are many alterations you may want to make to your wedding dress – and adding a corset to the back of your wedding dress is just one of many. Some other popular wedding dress alterations include:

  1. Shortening the Hem. I’m 5ft 2″…so my hem had to be shortened a lot! They usually make dresses longer for taller brides. As it’s much easier to shorten a dress than to make it longer.
  2. Train Loops and Buttons. Some dresses already come with these (mine did), but it gives you somewhere to attach the train of your dress so you can move more freely in the evening.
  3. Taking in/out at the Hips/Waist. This is one of the most common alterations. Every woman’s body is unique, so usually, there’s some work to do to fit all of our wonderful curves.
  4. Taking in Around the Bust. Another common one. We all have different bust and chest sizes – so of course, that may need some changes.
  5. Adding Sleeves. Some brides prefer to cover their arms for their wedding day, and their dream dress may not have sleeves. However, that’s super easy to rectify and your dream dress can have sleeves in no time!

Conclusion

I hope this article has helped you to become more familiar with corset back wedding dress alteration and how to go about doing it. Whether you’re doing it yourself or having it done at a store, it couldn’t be easier to rectify and your dream dress will be in front of your eyes in no time at all!

Whether you want it to be sincere, light-hearted, funny, or serious – we’ll be covering it all!

What Is A Wedding Program?

Oftentimes, weddings will have a wedding program. This is usually a piece of paper or leaflet that has all the information you’ll need about the running order of the day. There’s usually a wedding day timeline, alongside the order of ceremony, any songs or readings that may happen throughout the ceremony – plus information about the wedding party.

What Is A Wedding Program Thank You?

Often, in the wedding program, they’ll be a thank you message to your parents. There won’t be too much space on the program itself, so you’ll need to keep it short, sweet, and meaningful. Not only can you use this space to thank your parents, but to show some appreciation for the guests in attendance too.

If you’re looking for some ways to word your gratitude and thanks to your parents and guests, why not try using some of our ideas?

Wedding Program Thank You Wording

  • Thank you all for being in attendance today and for being part of such a memorable occasion. To our parents, we cannot thank you enough for all we have learnt from you and for the constant love and support you have always given us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all so much.
  • We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for coming and to everyone that has helped. In particular, the biggest thank you goes out to our parents who have worked together to make this day as perfect and seamless as possible.
  • With the biggest thank you going to our parents for everything they’ve done to get us here today, we would also like to take this chance to say thank you to all our family and friends who have come together for our special day. We love you!
  • Today is a dream come true. And that dream would not have been possible without the help of our parents. We love you endlessly and thank you. Another huge thank you goes to all our family and friends who have joined us here today.
  • Our parents have given us so much love and guidance to help us reach this day, and no words can express our gratitude for their continual love and support. We would also like to thank all of our relatives and close friends for being here today.

These are just a few ideas, so feel free to pick and choose, and change anything that needs changing to suit you.

Thank You Message For Parents On Wedding Day

Writing a letter to parents on the wedding day is something special and something that they’ll treasure forever. The letter can be as long or as short as you want it to be. I’m sure your parents will feel grateful for anything they receive as a gesture of thanks.

Before we look at the wording, here’s some tips you may find useful:

  • Make the letter handwritten. Nothing feels more personal than a handwritten letter
  • Try not to make it too generic – the more personal, the better
  • Include memories, inside jokes, things that will make your parents smile

You may be wondering what wording to use. We can’t write the whole letter, but here are some ideas of wording to use within the letter.

Thank You Letter Wording

  • Mom, you have always been my beacon of light. Dad, you have always given me the best of everything. Without you both, I would not be where I am today. And I can proudly say that you, alongside my new wife/husband, are the greatest gift the world has given me.
  • The memories we’ve made together and the times we’ve had have been truly unforgettable. I can look back fondly on my life and know that I have the best parents in the world. Parents who have done more than I could have ever asked for me, so thank you.
  • You taught me how to respect. How to be kind. And most importantly, how to love. Without that being instilled in me, I’m not sure I would be here today, with the love of my life. So thank you for teaching me that love is the most important thing in the world; I would be lost without you both.
  • You have always given me immense amounts of the greatest gift in the world: love. Along with time, affection, and patience. Things I will cherish, for always and pass down to my own children. You will always be my heroes, Mom and Dad.
  • To our parents, thank you. Thank you for supporting us over the years. Thank you for nurturing us into the good people that we are. And most of all, thank you for the everlasting love you’ve given us, all the way up to our special day. You’ve made our wedding dreams come true – so thank you.

Famous Poems About Soulmates For Wedding: Top 10

Today, we’re going to be looking at the top 10 famous poems about soulmates for weddings. Whether you’re wanting some timeless and classic, or modern and romantic – there’s a huge selection of wedding love poems you can choose for your special day.

Poems can add a truly unique and beautiful element to your wedding ceremony. When you can’t put into your own words how someone makes you feel, poetry does the talking for you. It feels personal and intimate to read each other poems – but which one to choose? Let’s take a look at our top 10 favorites.

Our Souls are Mirrors by Rupi Kaur

“god must have kneaded you and i
from the same dough
rolled us out as one on the baking sheet
must have suddenly realized
how unfair it was
to put that much magic in one person
and sadly split that dough in two
how else is it that
when i look in the mirror
i am looking at you
when you breathe
my own lungs fill with air
that we just met but we
have known each other our whole lives
if we were not made as one to begin with”

The Gift by Pam Brown

“In you are flowers and firelight,
stars and songbirds,
the scent of summer,
the stillness just before dawn.
I love you today,
dressed in glory.
I will love you always-
dancing, singing, reading, making, planning, arguing.
I will love you cantankerous, and tired,
courageous and in terror,
joyful, fearful and triumphant.
I will love you through all weathers and all change.
For all you are is precious to me.
And every day I live with you
and share your love
is a gift to me.”

At Nightfall by Charles Hanson Towne

“I need so much the quiet of your love
After the day’s loud strife;
I need your calm all other things above
After the stress of life.
I crave the haven that in your dear heart lies,
After all toil is done;
I need the star shine of your heavenly eyes,
After the day’s great sun.”

Devoted by Lori Eberhai

“My heart can be your home,
my soul can be your refuge.
You can turn to me when you are weak,
you can call to me when the way is not clear.
I will be your promise and your prayer,
I will always be there,
Constant and complete.
Run to me,
reach out for me,
and I will love you in a unique and tender way.
Bring your love to me,
share your love with me,
sing your love to me,
and I will offer you peace, ease and comfort.”

Your Light I Learn How to Love by Rumi

“In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you,
but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.”

In One Another’s Souls by Rumi

“The moment I heard my first love story
I started looking for you,
not knowing how useless that was.
Lovers don’t meet somewhere along the way.
They’re in one another’s souls all along.”

Roads go Ever on by J. R. R Tolkien

“Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.
Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.”

The Day Sky by Hafiz

“Let us be like
Two falling stars in the day sky.
Let no one know of our sublime beauty
As we hold hands with God
And burn

Into a sacred existence that defies—
That surpasses

Every description of ecstasy
And love.”

This Marriage by Rumi

“May these vows and this marriage be blessed.
May it be sweet milk,
this marriage, like wine and halvah.
May this marriage offer fruit and shade
like the date palm.
May this marriage be full of laughter,
our every day a day in paradise.
May this marriage be a sign of compassion,
a seal of happiness here and hereafter.
May this marriage have a fair face and a good name,
an omen as welcomes the moon in a clear blue sky.
I am out of words to describe
how spirit mingles in this marriage.”

One Hundred Love Sonnets by Pablo Neruda

“I don’t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz,
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as one loves certain obscure things,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom but carries
the light of those flowers, hidden, within itself,
and thanks to your love the tight aroma that arose
from the earth lives dimly in my body.”

And those are our top 10 soulmate poems. If you’re looking for more wedding poems, there’s a beautiful book by Julia Watson called Poems and Readings for Weddings which I highly recommend. You can buy your own copy here.

Top 10 Affordable Destination Weddings In The US

Today, we’re going to be looking at affordable destination weddings in the US. Weddings are one of the most expensive events that’ll happen throughout your life. And some people’s budgets are much tighter than others – I know mine was! So if you’re looking for an affordable destination wedding in the US – look no further!

Did you know that the average wedding costs just over $30,000?! But never fear – we’ll be diving straight into the top 10 places cheap places to get married within the USA!

What Is A Destination Wedding?

Before we begin, let’s go over what a destination wedding is. A destination wedding is a ceremony that takes place not in your hometown. It will require some form of travel for the couple themselves and wedding guests.

Cheap Destination Weddings USA

This is the part you’re likely here for! If you need help, check out these places for destination weddings in the US – at a fraction of the price of other states!

Nashville, Tennessee

If the price is the most important aspect for you, Nashville is the place for you! Generally speaking, this is the cheapest place to have your wedding. Whether you’re wanting to get married in nature, a gorgeous hotel, or even a vineyard – Nashville has it all. It’s also a great destination wedding if either half of the happy couple are country music lovers. A November wedding here would be perfect.

Omaha, Nebraska

Wedding costs usually reflect how much local housing costs, so it may be the largest city in Nebraska, but the cost of living is well below the average – so it’s a great place for your affordable wedding! It hosts a huge range of venues, so whether you’re looking for anything from a ballroom to a barn, you’ll be able to find it at a reasonable price in Omaha. You can even have your wedding in a museum!

Scottsdale, Arizona

If good weather is something that’s important to you, you may want to consider Arizona – the state where the sun (mostly) shines. Whether you’re wanting to get married on a golf course or a ranch, it’s almost certain the sun will be shining on your special day.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Somewhere I’m desperate to visit in the US is New Orleans – and it just so happens to be one of the most affordable cities to have your wedding. If you’re looking for a quirky wedding full of charm or set in a place brimming with history, New Orleans is a great choice. It’s always buzzing, but also has some stunning locations for your wedding.

Tampa, Florida

Another town brimming with history and character is Tampa. This is also perfect if you’re a thrill-seeker and want to have your wedding at a theme park. Busch Gardens is one of my favorite places in the world – what better place to have your ceremony?! Of course, Tampa has lots of far more conventional choices too.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

If you’re looking for somewhere modern, trendy but still affordable – Pittsburgh is the place for you. It’s full of one-of-a-kind venues that will definitely leave a lasting impression on you (and your guests). Again, there’s a huge range of venues to choose from, for every taste.

Weatherford, Texas

Texas may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of weddings, but Weatherford is a great place for your wedding. If you’re looking for a barn wedding with outdoor cooking alongside peace and serenity, look no further!

Huntington Beach, California

If you’re looking for a beach wedding that will take your breath away – of course, California is the place to go. And Huntington Beach is the perfect backdrop. While a wedding on the beach is the most popular choice, there are plenty of other affordable options to choose from. And a great place to get a quick surf or two in before or after the wedding.

West Orange, New Jersey

Whatever venue you’re in search of, West Orange likely has it – and at an affordable price too. There are a few places to choose from including Montclair Golf Club and Highlawn Pavillion. It’s a tranquil place that’s ideal for a wedding.

Blue Heron Lake, Ohio

A beautiful place for your wedding is Blue Heron Lake. If you’re on a tight budget, there are plenty of affordable options here. And a sunset boat ride to end the day would be perfect. You can find more about this idealistic destination wedding here.

When Is The Cheapest Time To Get Married?

The time of year of your wedding is also another important factor. Without a doubt, January is the most affordable month. With November and April coming in closely behind. If you’re looking for a super affordable wedding, I would highly recommend booking within those months to get the most from your budget. And if you’re worried about the weather, I had an August wedding and it rained all day! So there really is no guarantee of good weather on the day.

Conclusion

I hope this article has helped you to become more familiar with some of the most affordable destination weddings in the US. Some other places in the US you may want to consider are Salem (Massachusetts), Key West (Florida), and Aiken (South Carolina). These are just a few suggestions to take a look at – the US is full of affordable hot spots across the country.

If you can think of any other affordable destination wedding spots in the US, or you had your wedding in a cheaper part of the US, please feel free to let me know in the comments below. When To Do Bouquet Toss: All Things Bouquet Toss

Today, we’re going to be looking at when to do bouquet toss. When you think of weddings, there are many traditions or superstitions that usually come to mind. One of the most common traditions is the bouquet. But when should you throw it? Why do you throw it? Do you need to do this? We’ll be answering all things bouquet toss in this post!

Why Do We Toss The Bouquet?

This tradition has actually been around for centuries! But has changed over the years. Years ago, it was seen as good luck to even touch the bride! However, nowadays, catching the bouquet is seen as a sign that you will be the next woman to walk down the aisle. Usually, the bride will toss the wedding bouquet over her shoulder into a group of single women. Whoever catches the bouquet is seen as the chosen one!

When To Throw The Bouquet?

When it comes to throwing wedding flowers, there really is no etiquette to follow. However, it’s often done nearer the end of the day. Most of the time, the toss occurs in the evening. After the dinner, toasts, and dances, etc. If you do leave it later in the day, be wary of drunk, scrambling women in high-heeled shoes! You don’t want any accidents occurring on your wedding day.

It’s all down to personal choice when to throw the bouquet, but I recommend throwing the bouquet once the cake has been cut. It’s the perfect playful tradition to follow the cutting of the cake – and most people will already be up snapping photos.

Do You Use Your Wedding Bouquet?

If you are happy for your wedding bouquet to be thrown into the air and potentially receive some damage – then, by all means, use your wedding bouquet! However, some brides prefer to pay for a bouquet that’s only used is to be thrown. That way you can use more robust flowers and keep your bouquet in pristine condition. However, the choice is entirely yours! Florists will usually be able to make a tossing bouquet at a fraction of the price of your bridal bouquet.

How Long Is The Bouquet Toss?

You can make your bouquet toss as long or as short as you wish. If you want it over in seconds, that’s definitely an option. However, it’s good fun to choose a specific song, gather all your single friends on the dance floor and have a giggle with it. Your DJ can play your song choice (more on that later) as they make their way over and make it as exciting as possible!

It doesn’t usually last more than one song of your choice.

Songs To Play During Your Bouquet Toss

It’s becoming increasingly popular to play a song during your bouquet toss and Brides have a fantastic Best Wedding Bouquet Toss Songs post. Some of my favorites include:

  • Dear Future Husband – Meghan Trainor
  • Only Girl in the World – Rihanna
  • Single Ladies – Beyoncé
  • Wannabe – Spice Girls
  • Milkshake – Kelis
  • Like a Virgin – Madonna
  • Pour Some Sugar on Me – Def Leppard
  • Girls Just Wanna Have Fun – Cyndi Lauper
  • It’s Raining Men – The Weather Girls
  • Hot Stuff – Donna Summer
  • Man! I Feel Like a Woman – Shania Twain

This is just a fraction of some of the brilliant ideas from their article. I think the song should be all about celebrating women and how fabulous we are! If you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know in the comments below.

Do You Need To Throw Your Bouquet?

Absolutely not! If this isn’t something you feel comfortable doing – just skip this part of your day. I kept my artificial bouquet pristine and 5 years later, it still looks perfect! There are plenty of alternatives if this isn’t something you want to do. We’ll be taking a look at some alternatives later in this article.

Throwing The Garter

Another wedding tradition is throwing the garter. This one is for all the single men out there! So you may like to combine the two traditions. You can even get the winner of each tradition to have their own dance together after! This is all light-hearted fun, but make sure whoever takes part is comfortable doing this if you do choose to do the dance after.

Bouquet Toss Alternatives

There’s plenty of choices to choose from if the traditional bouquet toss isn’t for you. You may not have many single friends, or you may not want to single them out – so why not try one of these options instead?

  • Anniversary Dance. Choose a song and have the couples join you on the dancefloor. The DJ will then ask who’s been married longer than 5 years? 10 years? etc. Whoever is left on the dancefloor as being married the longest, gets the bouquet. It’s a super cute idea and completely different from the usual tradition.
  • Girls Only Dance. I did something similar to this at my own wedding. I chose “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé. However, I ended up missing the dance as I was getting changed into my evening outfit! But dancing with all of your girls is a great idea.
  • Split the Bouquet. In true Mean Girls-style, instead of breaking a tiara – break your bouquet! And give a flower to all the significant ladies in your life. That way the appreciation is for all, whether single, taken, or otherwise.

Conclusion

I hope this article has helped to clear up when to do the bouquet toss and answered all the questions you could possibly have about throwing your wedding flowers, the best way to do it – and alternatives! There are no set rules around the bouquet toss, so just do whatever you feel most comfortable with. It’s your special day, after all.

Gender Inclusive Wedding Team Names

It’s very outdated that men will only have male friends and women will only have female friends. When I got married, I had myself a Man of Honor and he was awesome! 6. “Commitment Crew” – I love this one! You’re all there for the same thing – to help your friends/family commit to their partner, so what better name than commitment crew?
  7. “Bridesfolk/Groomfolk” – scrap the maids and men, and just replace it with folk!
  8. “Friends of Honor” – if you’re just having friends as part of your bridal party/groomsmen, friends of honor is a great way to group them all together

How To Attach A Boutonniere – Step By Step Guide

Today, we’re going to be looking at how to attach a boutonniere. It may be something you’re nervous about, or maybe something you have no idea how to do! After all, we only ever use them on special occasions, so it may not be something you’re familiar with. Don’t worry, we’ll be taking you through each step with a step-by-step guide to make it easy as possible for you. Attaching a boutonniere to a lapel or a shirt is done in slightly different ways – and we’ll be covering them both.

What Is A Boutonniere?

More often that not, the male members of the wedding party should be wearing a boutonniere. A boutonniere is a spray of flowers that you wear in your buttonhole or your lapel. It can be a single flower, a bud, or something more extravagant. They are typically worn at weddings or formal dances, such as a prom.

What Side Does A Boutonniere Go On?

When wearing a boutonniere for a wedding, it should always be worn on the left. More often than not, this is where the lapel buttonhole is. There are a lot of theories around why this is the case but it’s most likely because of this. In men’s clothing, the buttonholes are always on the left. And on women’s clothing, the buttonholes are always on the right. It’s very uncommon for clothing to be any other way.

So if you’re a male, be sure to pin the boutonniere to the left. And if you’re a female, be sure to pin the boutonniere to the right.

How To Pin A Boutonniere

If you’re looking for a step-by-step guide – you’ve come to the right place! We’ll be taking you through how to pin a boutonniere to a lapel and to a shirt. Let’s take a look.

Lapel Method

Here’s how to attach a pin to the lapel.

  1. Positioning. As seen earlier, it should always be on the left side for a male. Position the flower so it’s facing outwards on the left lapel. The flower should be facing you and it should lay in the center of the lapel. Find a position that works, and is comfortable for you. After all – you’ll be wearing it all day!
  2. The Pin Begins. Firmly hold the boutonniere in place, lift the lapel, and pin upwards. Be sure it’s fully through the lapel.
  3. Keep Pinning. While still holding your pin, pin through the widest part of the stem of the boutonniere. Insert at a slight diagonal angle. This helps to keep it in place.
  4. Push Back. The other end of the pin should then come back through the other side of the lapel. When you lift the lapel, you should see both sides of the pin – and it should be at that slight diagonal angle.
  5. Does it Need Another Pin? Check how secure it feels. If it doesn’t feel as secure as you’d like, or the boutonniere is particularly large – add another pin the same way you added the first.
  6. Your boutonniere is ready for your big day!

If you prefer to do things visually, Floating Leaf Studios have a great video on How to Pin a Boutonniere.

Shirt Method

Putting a boutonniere on a shirt can be slightly trickier and more fiddly. However, it’s perfectly doable. Let’s see how to attach a boutonniere to a shirt.

  1. Pin Positioning. Finding the right spot is a bit trickier without the help of a lapel. It should be just above your heart, and ideally, around the place, the lapel would usually be.
  2. Pinch and Pin. Once you’ve found the right spot, pinch a piece of the fabric between two fingers and insert the pin right to left. Be sure that it goes into the fabric, and then out the other side.
  3. Repeat. Pinch another piece of the fabric for the pin to go through and slide it in. When it’s inserted both times, there should be a gap wide enough for the end of the boutonniere to fit snugly in to.
  4. Position the Boutonniere. Insert the stem of the boutonniere into the gap you’ve made with the pin. It acts as a little pouch for your boutonniere.
  5. Secure. Check that the boutonniere is secure and gently press around the boutonniere to straighten out any marks that may have been made when attaching it.
  6. Your boutonniere is ready for your big day!

This will likely leave a small hole in your shirt. So be prepared for that!

How To Put On A Boutonniere: Buttonhole Style

An easier way to do this is if your suit already has a buttonhole in your lapel. If it does, it makes the job a whole lot easier. Here’s a step-by-step guide if you’re lucky enough to have one!

  1. Place the stem through the buttonhole. There is often a piece of string behind the lapel to tuck the stem into and keep it secure.
  2. Tuck the stem into the string behind the lapel.
  3. Position the flower in the way you want it to look.
  4. Your boutonniere is ready for your big day!

That way is much easier, right?!

Conclusion

I hope this article has helped you to learn how to attach a boutonniere. It may seem tricky at first, but if you practice a few times before the wedding, you’ll figure it out in no time. Or ask a friend or family member to help if you’re still not feeling confident.

Boutonnieres look beautiful and really brighten up any wedding suit or shirt. And they make a statement that this is a special occasion. And what occasion is more special than a wedding?
